Lily and Matt had a morning ceremony followed by a lunch reception at the beautiful La Venta Inn in Palos Verdes Estates
How did you two meet?
August 10, 2019. Lily & Matt met on a group trip to Disneyland. Matt was working for Disney at the time and was able to bring 3 additional people in the parks for free. Since Matt and his friend, who also worked at Disney, asked everyone from their church to go to Disneyland with them already, they offered to take 6 people from a sister church on their next Disneyland trip. Lily ended up being one of the six people who went on the trip. While Lily was busy looking at all the plants at Disneyland, Matt was busy making his next move. After that trip, Matt asked Lily out on a date, Lily agreed, and they officially started dating a couple months later. Lily’s perspective – Before the Disneyland trip, Lily was really into plants (pre-COVID!) and her friend told her that the plants at Disneyland didn’t have dust on them. So Lily was determined to see if that was true. This was the first time Lily met Matt and she just thought he was a nice guy. Lily was not trying to impress anyone on the trip and was very open with sharing that she didn’t want to go on certain rides and was comfortable doing her own thing. Even though Lily didn’t know Matt when he asked her out, Lily agreed to go out on a date with him because she appreciated that he was very straightforward in asking her out. Matt’s perspective – That summer, Matt already went to Disneyland multiple times and treated this one similar to past trips. He wasn’t looking to date at that time, but Lily made an impression when she said there was no dust on the plants and that she was very okay with doing her own thing, while the majority wanted to go on more thrilling rides. After the trip, Matt messaged Lily for her Venmo and soon after asked her out on a date and she agreed.
Favorite thing about each other?
Lily’s favorite things about Matt: he understands me and is patient with my Type-A-ness, he is level headed, and is good with life (ie finances) Matt’s favorite things about Lily: Lily is straightforward, has a heart for others (always seeks out ways to serve and encourage others), and goes above and beyond what’s expected (aka extra)
What was totally “you” about your wedding?
We wanted a more intimate wedding with beautiful views and good food. Even though May Gray was very strong on our wedding day, it was still beautiful and our pictures came out great! All our guests commented that our food was delicious, which made everything worth it. 🙂
Most worthwhile splurge?
Photography, videography, florals, and our escort/latte favors wall
Favorite detail?
Our escort/latte favors! We wanted our latte favors to serve a dual purpose of being an escort “card” and a gift to our guests. We were able to customize the sticker label of the latte bottles with our friends at Thank you Coffee. Our friend drew cartoons of us and his wife used her graphic design background to create the design/look of the sticker labels. We didn’t know that we would learn so much about graphic design throughout the process, hahah. We loved how the stickers turned out and our latte favors were a hit!

Advice to future couples planning their wedding?
Start planning early because some vendors get booked up quick. Also, be flexible with last minute changes/hiccups that may occur before and on the wedding day, but it’s okay! The wedding will go on and at the end of the day, you’re still getting married! 🙂
